Impressive residence for sale in Lefkimmi, South Corfu.

The original building of this impressive residence in Lefkimmi was built in the beginning of the 19th century. This part takes up the side of the residence fronting the local street which is a street with traditional Corfiot Architecture just 100 meters from the river in Lefkimmi.

The renovation and extension of the property took place in 1994. On this year, the old house was renovated and the whole property was extended to become the residence of a local Corfiot Architect.

The owner renovated the residence maintaining all the exterior architectural elements and at the same time, the extension of the new section was designed with similar elements to maintain the character of the property.

The new section was built behind the initial building and is very private. The rear section of the property is also accessed by a side street where there is a cast iron electric gate which opens to a driveway leading to a covered garage and the gardens. Next to the garage there is the machinery room with the burner for the central heating, as well as large water storage tank. Next to the machinery room there is storage area. A well in the garden provides water for the gardens.

The lower section of the property, behind the traditional house is a vast library/studio which is the work space of the owner. An access from here leads to the front of the property which is currently converted and turned into an office which is now rented.

There is an elevator connecting all levels of the property, but there us also an independent entrance to the upper part where the main residence is. A lobby area with an open fire is the informal area for small gatherings. Steps from here to the east side of the residence there is a spacious living area with open plan kitchen with an island. Several windows on both sides allow natural light in.

On the west side of the lobby there is a bedroom with windows towards the main street which leads to the river.

The staircase which leads to the next level is made of wood with iron banister and lands onto a lobby area. Steps on the East side lead to a living area with a balcony door which leads to a vast balcony with views to the surrounding area. There is a second bedroom with en suite bathroom and window towards the side street. On the attic space above there is a second office/workspace with a WC and sky window as well as a small balcony.

In the garden area there is a BBQ ideal for summer dinning. The grounds of the garden are flat and easy to maintain. There are some olive trees and various other fruit trees.

Lefkimmi with its 5000 inhabitants is one of the biggest villages on Corfu island. This village has not been developed for the tourism and still today keeps its old structure and traditions.
