Agios Gordios is beautifully situated at the foot of some spectacular hills and the massive mountain of Agios Theodori on the west coast of Corfu.
With around 16 km, it’s in good proximity to both Corfu Town and Corfu airport. A regular public bus service connects Agios Gordios with Corfu Town several times a day. In season, there is also a 24-hour taxi rank charging around 25€ for a ride to the airport.
The beach of Agios Gordios is about 1.5 km long and sandy with some private areas also for nudists and those who enjoy privacy. In season (May to October) the busy heart of the beach offers all amendities of beach life including boats, canoes and pedallos for hire and other kinds of water sports. Because of the rocky coastline the sea around is an underwater paradise which made a diving centre have its station here. Also, Agios Gordios is very popular with the paragliding locals as the evening thermals provide them with ideal conditions.
In season, numerous taverns, supermarkets, bars, cafes & souvenir shops spread out along the access road all the way down to the beach. There are several daily bus connections to both Corfu Town and the surrounding villages such as Kato Garouna and Pendati, where time seems to have stood still.
Agios Gordios has a slightly isolated feeling as the only roads leading to the village are narrow, twisting and lead to no other significant place. This has saved Agios Gordios from over development and busy tourism. It still maintains an active farming and fishing community that supplies some of the local establishment where you can enjoy some of the best local food.
